How to choose fabric for new bedding?

Kaip išsirinkti audinį naujai patalynei?

Undoubtedly, one of the most important things without which a bedroom is unimaginable is bedding. Not only the aesthetic appearance of the environment, but also the quality of our rest depends on it.

When choosing bedding sets, try to maintain a consistent interior style, pay attention to the dominant colors, and don't forget to pay attention to the material.

The name cotton fabric has a very broad meaning. This term describes a wide range of cotton fabrics, from medium to heavy weight, differing in finish and application. Cotton absorbs moisture well and does not accumulate static electricity. It is perfect for products that come into direct contact with human skin, as it allows the body to breathe and at the same time protects it from overheating.

Cotton fabric is very strong, difficult to tear. The disadvantage is that it creases very easily. When exposed to direct sunlight, cotton fabric turns yellow and gradually begins to deteriorate. Humidity and polluted air accelerate this process. Cotton fabrics are easy to wash, and dirt and stains are easily removed.

This fiber is resistant to high ironing temperatures. White fabrics can be washed at 95°, while colored fabrics are recommended to be washed at a temperature not higher than 60°, and very dark colors - at a temperature not higher than 40 degrees. Iron below 150° C.

Fabrics washed in warm water without special treatment will shrink. White fabrics can be bleached with chlorine-based products and can be dry cleaned with all common detergents, but this reduces the durability of the fibers.

Canvas - a plain weave cotton fabric. Bedding made from it will last a long time. Canvas seams are strong, absorb moisture well, are hygienic, conduct heat, are beautiful and easy to wash, will last a long time, but are wrinkled and difficult to drape.

Satin - a very dense and soft long-staple combed cotton fabric, with a sheen reminiscent of silk. It wears out more slowly, retains color well. This fabric is easier to iron, so for those who do not like ironing, it is better to choose satin bedding. Traditional satin is a 100% cotton fabric, but it can also be found on the market with the addition of polyester fiber. Such a fabric is stronger, but absorbs moisture worse.

Knitwear – easy to drape, also soft, envelops well, does not wrinkle. Minus – bedding made of this material can look a little messy, stretches quickly. Knitwear a great choice when using a fitted sheet such a sheet fits the mattress, neatly enveloping it.

TIP!

To keep your bedding's colors vibrant for a long time, add a little vinegar to your laundry detergent when you wash it for the first time. The acid will stabilize the colors and they will stay bright and attractive for a long time. You can also use this tip to preserve the colors of your clothes.
