Too hot to sleep? 9 tips to get a good night's sleep in summer.

Per karšta miegui? 9 patarimai, kaip gerai išsimiegoti vasarą.
Summer has arrived, and with it, sleepless nights. It's time for some changes in the bedroom that will help you get quality sleep without tossing and turning in overly warm bedding.
You probably already know that we sleep best in a slightly cooler room. But how do you cool down when even the nighttime doesn't cool down a bedroom that has warmed up during the day? We're sharing tips on how to regain comfortable sleep in the summer.
  1. Keep the room dark.

This advice is especially relevant if your windows face south or west. A room that heats up in the evening doesn't have time to cool down after the sun goes down, so when you lie down in bed you feel like you're in a sauna. Invest in blackout curtains. They not only darken the room, but also help cool it. Since the sun's rays don't heat your bed, it doesn't get as warm.
It's not just about blocking the sun. Don't forget that light-emitting devices and appliances also heat the room. Turn off lights when they're not needed and keep your bedroom dark.
  1. Pay attention to the open windows.

As the hot sun heats up your home, it's tempting to open all the windows and let in fresh air. Unfortunately, we often end up with the opposite result - we let even more heat into the house.
On very hot days, keep the curtains closed and only open the windows that are not exposed to direct sunlight. Ventilate your home after dark, when the temperature drops.
  1. Change your bed sheets.

If you use synthetic or mixed fiber bed linens – forget them for the summer! Such sheets promote sweating, do not allow the skin to breathe and retain heat. Definitely not the most pleasant choice on hot days...
In summer, choose the lightest natural fabrics possible. In our assortment you will find extremely light (130g/m 2 ) PREMIUM satin bed linen. These 100% cotton fabrics are breathable, allow the skin to breathe, are extremely soft and pleasant to the body.
If you have the opportunity, choose a blanket made of natural fibers. If you can't, skip the blanket altogether and use only a natural duvet cover or sheet (without rubber, of course).
  1. Bring nature into the bedroom.

You won't find a single plant in a common bedroom. People avoid them for fear of additional dust. And for no reason!
Plants absorb warm air and release water – they, like people, cool themselves. A cooling plant will also refresh the room. And there is probably no need to talk about the purified air. Just don't forget that on hot days you need to water the plants more often! Believe me, they will thank you.
  1. Change the room.

If you have a large house, you may have noticed that some rooms can be cooler than others. If you live in a multi-story house and your bedroom is on the top floor, try sleeping on the first floor. Remember that heat rises, so the rooms below are often cooler.
Rooms with North-facing windows are also generally cooler. If you have the opportunity, find the coldest part of your house and move your bedding there.
  1. Refrigerate your bed linens.

Although the advice may sound strange, it really works! Even if you choose a natural fiber bedding set, the heat can still be bothersome. Try these ways to cool your bedding:
  • Fill a hot water bottle and freeze it. Roll the bottle under your bed before going to bed and leave it next to you.
  • Before going to bed, take off your pillows and put their covers in the refrigerator. Don't forget to put them back on before going to bed.
  • You can chill a duvet cover (or even the entire bedding set) in the freezer! Before freezing, fold the bedding set and place it in a zip-lock plastic bag to prevent the fabric from getting wet.

  1. Invest in a good fan or air conditioner.

It goes without saying that investing in a good air conditioner will make hot nights a thing of the past! However, not everyone has that opportunity.
If you can't install air conditioning at home, try the trick with a simple fan! Place a bowl or even a bucket of ice cubes (frozen water bottles are also suitable) in front of it and enjoy the blast of fresh air!
  1. Cool yourself!

Cooling just the room may not be enough.
Cool down yourself – both literally and figuratively.
  • Treat yourself to a cool shower or bath before bed, thereby slightly lowering your body temperature.
  • Relax and stay calm. When you go to bed, forget about the worries of the day and think only about rest. Stress will definitely not help you sleep well, but meditation can!
  • Cool the areas where you feel your pulse. Use a wet flannel or other cloth, ice cubes wrapped in a bag (or maybe frozen peas?) to cool your wrists and neck – you'll be surprised how quickly you'll feel refreshed after cooling just a few points on your body.
  • Think about essential oils! Lavender oil not only smells delicious, but it can also help you sleep better. Fill a spray bottle with cold water and a few drops of lavender essential oil and spray your bedroom before bed.
  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and overeating. Dehydrating drinks or heavy meals will weigh down your stomach and entire body, causing sleep disruption.
  • Drink plenty of water! Don't forget iced water in the evening and keep a glass by your bed.

  1. Choose the right sleepwear.

Choose lightweight, natural fabrics like cotton. While sleeping completely naked may seem like a better option, opt for lightweight nightgowns or pajamas, as the fabrics will absorb sweat and help keep you cool.
Try putting socks in the fridge or freezer before bed and putting them on when you go to bed. Cool feet will quickly cool your body.
By following at least a few of these tips, you can finally enjoy a good night's sleep even on the hottest summer nights! And while the water in the freezer is freezing, check out our PREMIUM satin range.
